HiAST School Trip to TDF Mangifi Centre

At HiAST, we believe learning should be active, real, and enjoyable, especially in the early years of education. HiAST Hyderabad grade 2 to 5 students went on a school trip to the TDF Magnifi Science Centre in Karachi. This was a rare opportunity to step outside the classroom and explore science through real-life experiences. The trip was organized by the HiAST Junior School Management to support learning and build curiosity. The exciting trip from Hyderabad to Karachi began early in the morning, as students gathered at the campus around 8:30 AM, and after settling into the buses, the journey began to reach its destination around 9:00 AM.

As one of the best schools in Hyderabad, Pakistan, HiAST values both academic progress and personal development. Trips like this one show students that learning is not limited to books. It can also happen through exploration, observation, and asking questions. The Dawood Foundation  (TDF Centre) is known for its focus on science and technology education. It offers activities that connect directly with school subjects. Students get to explore key STEM areas like robotics, space, physics, biology, and more through structured exhibits. One reason this center was chosen is that its programs match school curricula. The exhibits aren’t just for display, they’re designed for hands-on use. Students are encouraged to try things on their own, test ideas, and learn by doing.

Some students worked on puzzles using magnets, others tested water flow with models, energy setups that explained solar and wind power, and how electricity is generated through hydropower. These are not abstract ideas; they are real and observable, which makes the lessons more meaningful. From the moment they entered, students could feel that this was not just a regular museum. The space was open and welcoming. Bright colors, well-labeled stations, and clean zones made navigation easy for both students and teachers. The museum layout is built around discovery. It has large, open maker labs with different tools and work areas. There were stations for coding, design, VR setups, and prototype models. This setup helped students move freely and explore at their own pace. Next came a visit to the building and construction zone, students wore yellow construction hats and safety vests, simulating a mini construction site experience. Some students pushed colorful wheelbarrows, while others lifted foam bricks and tried assembling structures, learning about balance, design, and team coordination.

Another stop was the city by the sea section. This area displayed a huge water tank with rotating turbines and an interactive exhibit teaching students about renewable energy and hydrodynamics. Students engaged with floating objects, colorful spinning fans, and various control stations. One child on the raised platform leaned over joyfully, trying to aim flowing water at the turbines, watching with wide eyes as the movement generated mini whirlpools. Teachers and staff were present, gently guiding the students and explaining scientific concepts in fun and easy ways. In the Mathematics Zone at the TDF Magnifi Science Centre, students experienced math beyond textbooks through real-life applications. They explored shapes, symmetry, patterns, measurement, and spatial reasoning concepts in a playful environment. Moreover, students observed the evolution and mechanics of various modes of transport, including cars, airplanes, ships, and trains. Another exhibit showcased the history of communication technology, where they saw vintage cameras, television sets, and radios. Students engaged with a hands-on science exhibit that tests steadiness and motor control. One of the key activities was a steady hand game, where a student carefully guides a metal loop along a curved wire path without touching it, an exercise in precision, patience, and focus.

The trip ended with a well-deserved lunch at KFC after an exciting day,  where students, teachers, and accompanying staff gathered to relax. At HiAST Hyderabad, we continue to support this kind of learning. Whether it’s through regular classes or special trips, we aim to give every student a well-rounded experience. That’s what makes HiAST a trusted choice among schools in Hyderabad, Sindh, and beyond. The visit to the TDF Magnifi Science Centre was a chance for students to see, touch, and directly understand science. They came back with new ideas, a better understanding, and a renewed interest in learning. The HiAST school faculty ensured all parts of the day went smoothly, from transportation and food to safety and supervision, everything was carefully managed.
